King Von’s Story

King Von’s real life, just like his music is both tragic and interesting.

According to King Von, he dropped out of school in the fifth grade. Later he would find success through gangsta rap music and eventually made enough money in his music career to support his family and give them a better life. Von’s music is based on the street life in Chicago and the particular style of song he creates is quite unique.

King Von (Dayvon Bennett) was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 9, 1994 and grew up in a rough area in Chicago. He had nine siblings. Six half-siblings from his father Walter E. Bennett and three siblings from his mother Taesha. Due to his father’s imprisonment, his mother was responsible for raising him on her own, fell on hard times and struggled to make ends meet.

King Von’s father died after being shot when he was 11. Later, King Von would honor his father in a number of songs, most notably in the song “Exposing Me”.

King Von spent some time behind bars at the age of 16 in connection with a shooting in which Malcolm Stuckey was murdered and two other people were injured. King Von was charged in 2014 with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder but later he was cleared of all charges.

King Von turned his life around and started concentrating on his musical career working with Lil Durk’s record label. It’s worth noting that King Von’s first couple of albums were very well received but they fell short of success. King Von claims to have released a lot of content that wasn’t received well and was disappointed.

The first time he gained recognition was when one of his songs made it to the top 40 charts.

King Von also attended South Suburban College, where he received some college credits, prior to his imprisonment for the alleged crimes. While incarcerated, he completed his GED and then became a member of the street gang known as the Black Disciples.

Whether you like rap music or not, you can find inspiration from King Von in many different ways.

Personally, I take inspiration from Von’s body of work. What King Von was able to accomplish in such a short span of his life inspires me to do even more in my life. Considering Von’s childhood, upbringing and environment, this makes his accomplishments even more impressive.

You might also take inspiration from the King Von inspirational quotes and lyrics above. A deep look at his quotes uncovers a young man that wanted to do good for his family, and the community.

To accomplish great things in life it requires hard work and for you to go outside your comfort zone. This is the most important thing yet so many of us spend our whole life (which is a long time . . . ) just waiting for good things to happen out of thin air. It requires your whole energy to do things the right way.

I think of people like Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, Winston Churchill, Henry Ford, Thomas A. Edison, Steve Jobs and Oprah Winfrey. The only thing that separates us from them is our choice to drive the outcome that we’re looking for every single day.

King Von’s life was short . . . but he made it count!

Everyone should take note . . .
